Yolanda Roth for Hennepin County Commissioner District 1

Yolanda Roth is running for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 1. In her 20 years as a Union leader, community organizer, and activist, she has been engaged in multiple labor campaigns and worked on behalf of renters, LGBTQ rights, criminal justice reform, regenerative agriculture and affordable housing.

Roth understands that air and water quality greatly affect the residents of Hennepin County every day. She is working to improve residents’ transportation options by supporting expanding bus lines, wider sidewalks, and protected bike lanes, both to keep residents safe and to reduce air pollution and reduce congestion on our streets.

Yolanda Roth on Transportation infrastructure:

“Transportation is one area where Hennepin County is well positioned to lead. Nearly 2/3rds of Hennepin’s 2020-2024 Capital Improvement Program is dedicated to transportation funding. How that funding is prioritized has a big impact on the well being of county residents and the health of our shared climate.

“I am committed to leveraging the county transportation budget to achieve a sustainable and accessible transportation network. For too long, the County has over-prioritized automobiles and has under-served those who walk, bike or take transit. If the county is to lead on climate action, it’s transportation budget needs to change accordingly.”
