Help protect our climate

Tell the presidential candidates to speak out against the Line 3 tar sands pipeline

Despite their promises to lead boldly in reducing carbon pollution and preventing damage to our climate, only two presidential candidates have announced opposition to Line 3 in Northern Minnesota.  Use our simple tweet tool to urge the others to oppose this reckless pipeline.

Line 3 & the presidential campaign

Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 is a massive tar sands oil pipeline slated for construction across Northern Minnesota, from Canada’s tar sands region to Superior, Wis. If built, the pipeline would:

  • Cross more than 200 bodies of water, including the Mississippi River twice
  • Carry some of the dirtiest oil in the world, tar sands crude
  • Violate several treaties with the Ojibwe people that establish the right for Indigenous people to hunt, fish, and gather along the proposed pipeline route.

In the midst of a climate crisis, it defies common sense to expand fossil fuel infrastructure. Despite their promises to defy Big Oil and to help stop the climate crisis, only two presidential candidates, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, have announced opposition to Line 3.

A coalition of environmental and Indigenous groups has launched a campaign to urge candidates to speak out against the pipeline. Coalition members are MN350 Action, Honor the Earth, Oil Change U.S. and 350 Action

The Line 3 pipeline would result in carbon pollution equivalent to 50 coal plants.
